A little guidance goes a long way
You don’t have to figure it out alone.
Practical next steps for passengers with a missing, mixed-up, or found airport bag.
If your bag is missing
- 1Check the correct baggage belt and nearby oversize baggage area.
- 2Speak to your airline baggage service desk before leaving the airport.
- 3Keep your baggage receipt, boarding pass, and report reference.
- 4Submit a missing-bag report and follow your case updates.
If you have the wrong bag
- 1Keep the bag safe. Do not use or share its contents.
- 2Tell the airport baggage team and arrange a safe handover.
- 3Report the bag you picked up, including any visible tag.
- 4Report your own missing bag separately so staff can compare.

Read your baggage tag
Your baggage receipt usually carries the tag number and routing airport codes. The tag number is separate from the flight number. Enter exactly what is printed; don’t guess missing digits.
Collect safely
Wait for Ready for Collection. Carry photo ID, the original baggage receipt where available, and your collection pass. Staff verify these and distinctive bag details before marking it returned.
A few questions, answered.
How do I find my baggage tag number?
Look for the baggage receipt attached to your boarding pass. Copy the printed tag number, not your booking reference. If you don’t have it, leave that field empty and describe your bag carefully.
What if I picked up someone else’s bag?
Do not open or use its contents. Keep it safe and hand it to an airport baggage service desk. Submit a wrong-bag report describing the bag you picked up, then submit a separate missing-bag report for your own bag.
Does a high similarity score mean it is my bag?
No. It measures how closely two descriptions match. Airport staff must verify distinguishing details and identity before returning a bag.
Can I collect a bag as soon as it is located?
Wait until your case says Ready for Collection. Located: Verification Pending means staff are still checking ownership. Bring photo ID, your baggage receipt, and your collection pass.
Where should I go if there is no update?
Contact your airline’s official baggage service team with your Case ID and baggage receipt. Check contact details on the airline’s official website or with the airport desk. This prototype cannot contact an airline for you.
Are these locations live?
No. Locations are last-recorded updates, labelled Confirmed, Reported, or Simulated. ReClaim does not provide live GPS tracking.
